How to be Creative

Some thoughts after reading Teach Like a Pirate by Dave Burgess.

Creativity comes from asking right questions.

“How can I …?” is much better than “Is there a way to …?”

Asking questions makes us focus on things we may pay little attention to. Creative ideas are out there all the time, we have to find them. It’s like tuning the mental radio to the right frequency to receive the signals we want.

Being creative is a skill, and it takes practice and effort.

In his course Laugh Out Loud, children author Tim Harris shared how to generate story ideas – keep asking “what if”. What if the spider web is edible? What if it’s delicious? Creativity is the same.
