英语口语词不达意，常常是因为名词不够用，不知道某种东西用英语怎么说。据统计，COCA常用的20000词汇中，名词占了大约一半，这还没有算各种专有名词呢。
表达的时候，我们可以使用一些策略：
1. 用上位词
例如，用 a flower tree 来代替 magnolia，不够精准，在是哪种花/树没什么关系的语境中，足够用了。
2. 解释法
例如，不会flask (保温瓶，保温杯)，可以说a bottle that keeps your water or tea warm. 这种方法还有助于我们形成英语思维，活用已有词汇表达，一举数得。
但这些策略不能代替名词的积累。
下一周，请注意一下身边的各种东西或概念，如果不知道叫什么，记下来，回头一起查词典。
